A large and highly decorative late 19th century painted folding screen, probably French or continental, executed in the chinoiserie taste.
Formed of three substantial panels, each decorated with flowering branches, foliage and perched birds against a faux mahogany ground, retaining a beautifully mellow surface with age-related wear, patina and imperfections throughout. The reverse also painted, allowing the screen to work beautifully as a freestanding room divider.
An especially striking decorative piece with excellent scale, equally suited to traditional or contemporary interiors.
Minor age-related wear, scratches, marks and slight misalignment to one panel consistent with age and use, all contributing to its character and authenticity.
